Dress Code:

  • The official AAU Karate patch must be worn for this competition
  • Beginner - Must wear White Belt
  • Novice - Must wear Green Belt
  • Intermediate - Must wear Brown Belt
  • Advanced - Must wear Black Belt
  • Traditional White Gi (no piping or stripes)
  • No rolled sleeves or cuffs
  • Pants must be 3/4 length (between ankle and knee)
  • Sleeves must be 3/4 length (between wrist and elbow)
  • Females must wear a plain white t-shirt or white sports bra under gi top
  • No headbands or jewelry
  • Uniforms may not bear unreasonably sized trademark or name of a product or manufacturer, and may not bear the name of a club/organization/competing league.  Only the original manufacturer's labels may be displayed on the gi and in the normally acceptable locations.
  • Only acceptable logo on uniform and/or equipment is an AAU logo unless approved by the AAU Executive Committee.

Mandatory Equipment:

  • White Naugahyde/Leather Fist guards (AAU Approved)
  • White Foam Headgear with face shield (AAU Approved) ages 17 and under
  • Groin Cup Protector (Males)
  • Mouth guard

Optional Equipment:

  • Red Naugahyde/Leather Fist guards (AAU Approved) *
  • White or Red Cloth/Naugahyde Shin pads (AAU Approved) *
  • White or Red Cloth/Naugahyde Boot/Instep Pad (AAU Approved) *
  • White Foam Open Face Headgear (Adult) (AAU Approved)
  • White Breast Shield (Female)
  • White Chest Protectors

*When wearing red equipment, you must be Aka.  If you are Shiro, you cannot wear Red Fist Guards or Red Boots, you can wear Red Shin pads if they are covered by your uniform.

The unsung heroes of any tournament are the referees and volunteers who make it possible.  If you are interested in either refereeing or volunteering at the Ohio District Championships, please complete the registration below.  Volunteers receive free admission for the day.

  Thank you for registering for the 2022 Ohio AAU Karate District Championships! This year’s event is one of the largest in the last decade and we look forward to a safe and fun competition. The venue has reached out with their COVID-19 protocols and asked that we adhere to the following guidelines:

 

1.     No Food or Drink besides water:  All other food MUST be left in your vehicle. You are welcome to reenter the facility after going to your vehicle if needed. 

2.     SPECTATORS: Limited to 2 per athlete. Please complete the link below for your 2 spectators. Spectators will pay the day of the event.

3.     Masks:  Masks are required for all spectators and athletes (when not competing) while inside the building. 

4.     STAGING TIMES: Athletes are only permitted to enter the facility AT THEIR SCHEDULED TIME (or no more than 30 minutes prior). Athletes will not be granted entrance any sooner than the time listed on the Tournament Schedule. Due to space limitations, athletes and spectators are only permitted in the arena during their competition time. 

5.     NO LOCKER ROOM USE:  All athletes and spectators MUST use the restrooms by the conference rooms to the right of the front desk (when entering). Locker rooms are for members only, no karate competitors or spectators are allowed.

6.     ARENA USE ONLY:   Karate competitors and spectators are not permitted in ANY OTHER AREA of the facility. This includes the group fitness studio, pool area, fitness area and the 2nd floor. All athletes and spectators should go directly to the arena and remain in the arena until the conclusion of their events. 

7.     Food:  There will be a food truck onsite from 11a-2p. Food cannot be brought into the facility.
